The end of the 2016 drag racing season seems to be getting spicier by the week, with the latest condiment that tickles our senses coming in the form of the Honda Civic we have here.
Yes, this is a front-wheel-drive car, so when being put into the same sentence with drag racing, it risks fuelling tons of stereotypes.

However, machines such as the one we have here are the kind that work to break stereotypes and by work we mean setting new world records. Focusing on this Civic's feat, we'll tell you the little Honda that could recently raised the bar (no boost pressure pun intended) for stock chassis FWD cars with a 7.6-second run at 199 mph.

Having grabbed the title of the quickest stock chassis FWD title, the Civic also took home the fastest part of the accolade, with a different run seeing the compact drag strip animal hitting a trap speed of 201 mph.

Cool, but where does all the velocity come from?

Those numbers are the result of the vehicle's extreme tech setup, which sees the modest 2.0-liter four-cylinder under the hood packing a monstrous 1,850 hp. With the help of a generously-sized turbo, which you can see mounted in the nose of the Honda, the engine is able to deliver the said crank hp value, while the wheel horsepower rating of the car sits north of 1,600 ponies.

Many aficionados may expect this Civic to be animated by the K20 Honda engine, but the beast packs a B-Series four-banger instead.

The project comes from Washington-based Speed Factory Racing, a crew that has invested tons of energy into the tuning and testing alone. Sure, the machine's take-offs may be far from spectaculars, but we have to keep in mind that the numbers are the ones that matter in this game.
