The C7 Corvette Z06 might have all eyes on it these days, but the ZR1 incarnation of the C6 'Vette hasn't exactly left the stage. For one thing, the tuning side of the industry has had plenty of time to play with the platform, which means that you can now find plenty of extreme ZR1s out there.
Case in point, the Corvette in the video below, which is a record-setting car. To be more precise, this ZR1 has recently become the fastest half-mile beast of its kind that keeps the factory LS9 power.

Nevertheless, don't expect this to be the kind of lightweight supercharger pulley upgrade that brings a "respectable" muscle bump. Oh no. We're talking about a major boost here, one that has seen the V8 jumping from the already-manic 638 hp factory output to 1,000 hp.

In fact, as it happens with many built machines, the pony rating is not 100 percent precise, with the pumped-up 6.2-liter V8 actually delivering north of 1,000 horses.

As we mentioned above, this ZR1 was recently taken to a half-mile event, where the car managed to make the most out of its engine. And since we talked about this, we should probably give you some figures - this ZR1 can hit over 190 mph (make that 306 km/h if you're a fan of the metric system) at the end of the measured distance.

In a less than surprising move, this Corvette has also seen its voice growing stronger in the process. As a result, the ZR1's soundtrack can now easily take over an entire event.

And since the majestic ZR1 didn't just face the speed trap, the Chevy got to trample quite a few hp heroes in the process. From a BMW to a C7 Corvette, this ZR1 showed everybody who's boss. And we're inviting you to check it all out in the piece of footage below.
