According to sources, the cars affected by an yet undetermined flaw are TDI models manufactured in 2009. A total of some 38,000 such vehicles are being investigated, the NHTSA said according to kansascity.com.
The flaw which causes the vehicles to stall is apparently linked to the fuel delivery system. According to reports, cited by Autoblog, the flaw even led to repair bills which climbed to $10,000.
There are no other official details available, but if the NHTSA investigation indeed finds something, we should here something in due time. Also, this is not a recall, but just an investigation.
The current generation Jetta is on its way out, after earlier this year Volkswagen presented the new model, based on the NCC coupe concept car shown at the 2010 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS).
On the US market, the Jetta will be sent with with four engines choices, three petrol and one turbodiesel (TDI Clean Diesel). All engines are offered with a manual transmission as standard equipment, but an automatic version will also be available as an option (the new 2.0l TDI and 2.0l TSI come equipped with a 6-speed DSG transmission).
The car will be available in five equipment grades for the US market, S, SE, SEL, TDI and the top-of-the-range GLI. For this model, Volkswagen set a starting price of $15,995.
