One of the biggest surprises of the 2010 LA Auto Show has to be the Subaru Impreza Design Concept. The concept in sedan form shows the direction the next generation of Impreza might take. Taking Subaru's legendary name in a new direction, the language of "Confidence In Motion" is something to behold.

The Impreza concept is powered by a 2.0-liter boxer engine and uses a CVT transmission to drive the wheels through a Symmetrical AWD system.

Looking more like a refined Legacy then the boxy hatch we got used to the past two years, the concept might actually be the first beautiful Subaru in a long time. Sporting an aggressive new grille, large air intakes and LED lights, the front end of the car combines sporty character with a luxury feel.

The back of the car features strong lines which stretch into the body sides and a hexagonal themed bumper and rear lights. The aerodynamic look of the car is emphasized by a flowing roof line, rear diffuser, and air splitters. Fin-shaped fog lamps at the front follow the wing motif and further emphasize the lines of the car.

Diffusers on the underside of the rear bumper and the rear deck, together with the front and rear bumpers, will create extra downforce for the car. The exterior of the car is painted in Sky Silver, which suggests a silver color to be the mainstay of future Subaru models.

The Impreza Design Concept will be on display at the Auto Show, which is open to the public between November 19 and 28 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
