Spyshots: Second Generation Porsche Panamera Starts Testing

If Porsche wanted to make radical changes to the Panamera sedan, that time has passed, since the major facelift is already out, after well over a year of testing. Which means these two troublemakers are something else, something altogether new.

These two test vehicles could be mules for the next generation Porsche Panamera, which is probably around three years away. These are the last couple of days of track testing at the Nurburgring, and maybe the engineers wanted to see if the new engines they are working on have enough go-power.

The black prototype has its extended wheel arches packed with foam, which engineers are probably using to determine clearances on this new chassis. The other car, the bronze one, has advanced sensors on each wheel to measure specific dynamic characteristics.

Not much is know about the future of the Panamera at the moment. Porsche was believed to be developing a smaller sedan that was expected to be ready by 2017, it could have been canceled, plus the track and wheelbase of these cars is too big.

The other big rumor is that the next generation Panamera will be a 2016 car and will share its body architecture with the third-generation Bentley Continental, Volkswagen Group’s front engine, rear wheel drive MSB.
