Nissan GT-R to Receive an Important Facelift?

The Nissan GT-R - Porsche 911 Turbo war might have a new battle prepared for us. According to various rumors which have appeared on the web, Nissan is packing some extra heat for the upcoming facelift of the GT-R in order for the car to deliver a serious blow to the new Porsche 911 Turbo S.

It looks like Godzilla’s powerplant will be taken in the over-500 hp league, while the car’s body will receive a number of aerodynamic improvements, with both developments being aimed at reducing the vehicle’s Nurburgring laptime (this is the favorite battlefield of the two superiors).

The Porsche 911 Turbo S, which was introduced at this year’s Geneva Auto Show, is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.8 liter direct injection boxer engine that delivers 530 hp and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. The torque can reach a value of 700 Nm (516 lb-ft), when the engine's overboost function is used. The German supercar takes 3.3 seconds to cover the 0 to 100 km/h sprint and has a top speed of 315 km/h (195 mph).

The current incarnation of the GT-R uses a 3.8 liter twin turbo that offers 485 hp and 588 Nm of torque (433.7 lb-ft of torque), which allows it to leave the 100 km/h mark behind in 3.5 seconds (unofficial testers have managed to register a 3.3 s time for the sprint) and reach a top speed of 311 km/h (193 mph).

Both vehicles are focused on offering razor sharp handling, as they feature state of the art all wheel drive systems which allow them to tackle corners at amazing speeds.
