Chevrolet Malibu Leaked on GM Website

GM has already released two teaser images of the new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu and we were expecting another by the end of this week, but the miracle of the Internet has provided us with something even better: a full image showing the car before it was supposed to be unveiled in Shanghai next week.

The picture comes not from hackers or spy photographers, but from General Motors, who accidentally dropped the ball last night on its own media site. This model is expected to become a global product when it arrives next year.

We only have one picture, but it’s already pretty clear that this will be one good-looking piece automotive design, thanks in part to all those creases that make the exterior look very detailed and intricate. Up front, we spot the typical Bowtie grille of the current Chevrolet range that is paired to some multi-element headlights.

There’s chrome detailing everywhere, on the grille, fog lamps, door handles and the fairing around the windows. The turn signals have been incorporated into the wing mirrors that look a bit Mercedes-like.

At the back, the car will get tailights reminiscent of the Camaro's four-pack of red lenses and the interior will be just as good. GM will surely pack the Malibu with all of its latest technologies, plus the 2.4-liter naturally aspirated and 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engines. A hybrid version is also likely, as are diesel engines for the European market.

The car will get its official unveiling at the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show, but until then let us know what you think about this looker of a sedan.
