Car Picnic Table by Fiat 500 Design

There is no wonder what Italians can do when it comes to art and design, as the Fiat 500 Design Collection is a clear evidence of that. The company created a Picnic Table out of an original Fiat 500 and the final results are just magnificent.

The original design is inspired from a Fiat 500 model and then it is crafted as a piece of furniture by the interior design company Meritalia in collaboration with Lapo Elkann, Fiat chairman’s brother and possibly the future chairman of Ferrari.

Three pieces of furniture based on the 500 are available in the shape of a Picnic table, a Cin Cin bar counter and a Panorama sofa. Each of them represents works of art and the Italian company offers a wide variety of colours to chose from.

The furniture collection was presented at the 50th edition of Salone del Mobile in Milan. Meritalia has always created design solutions that were both aesthetic and functional. Every single furniture piece replicates the front end of the 1957 Fiat 500 and comes with different colour sets such as red, white, green and black.

The picnic table has a basic structure that consists of the front end of a 1957 Fiat 500 on which rests a crystal clear tempered extra bound to the base with polished aluminum supports. The side wheels are made of flexible polyurethane elastomeric finished in matte black.

The "Cin Cin", besides the basic 500 model structure, has a tempered glass top and it is extra bound to the base with polished aluminum supports. And the best thing is that it comes in three heights dimensions.

The "Panorama" couch features a steel perimeter frame that replicates the shape of the front original 500 model. The padded seat and backrest are made of polyurethane with different densities which makes it very comfortable. The covers are made out of fabric or leather, with stitching, and the geometric pattern side wheels are made of polyurethane.
