Bentley Four-Door Coupe in the Works

The four-door coupe segment of the automotive market has been on a constant expansion in the last few years and now a new automotive producer is planing to join the party.

Bentley is currently making the first steps to develop a four-door coupe, as autoexpress reports. The vehicle will be the entry-level model of the future Bentley range and will allow the company to fight against vehicles such as the Aston Martin Rapide, the next generation of the Maserati Quattroporte, or the potential four-door model considered by Lamborghini.

The vehicle will come with a low profile in order to target a different audience than the Flying Spur Saloon and will offer four individual seats. The car’s front fascia is expected to use elements from the recently-introduced Continental GT facelift. The interior of the vehicle will live up to the Bentley name, offering a long list of refined features.

As for its platform, this will be a modified version of the one used by the next generation of the Audi A6. Under the bonnet of the baby Bentley, we’ll find a 4.0 liter V8 engine, which is  being co-developed by Bentley and Audi. The unit will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and will send its power to the road using an all-wheel-drive system. The engine will also make its way under the hood of the revamped Continental GT.

The future Bentley four-door coupe is expected to come with a price tag of around $135,000. This will allow it to seriously increase Bentley's sales.
