Announced at the beginning of the year as a possible for 2011, the first FIA World Rally Championship backed racing game will hit the stores on October 8 2010, sooner than originally expected. Developed by Italian firm Black Bean Games, the WRC game will be playable on PlayStation3 and Xbox360 and PC.

It will be the only game, for the next five years (this is how long the FIA WRC endorsement lasts), to use the cars, drivers and co-drivers from the current WRC season and from all support classes: P-WRC, S-WRC and J-WRC.

“The long awaited World Rally Championship comes crashing back to your living room in a blaze of dust and glory! The only game to deliver all the official cars, the courageous heroes, the thrill of the time challenge, and the ultimate test of mastering the skill of rallying maneuvers on your PC and game consoles!,” Black Bean Games brags on the game's website.

The game features 78 different rally stages and over 550km of varied road conditions from the 13 countries. It comprises Road to the WRC career mode (players compete for 50 different trophies), Time Attack (race for a record time on the special stage of your choice) and Online Ranking (online play).

Black Bean Games also announced that the 2010 game will not be available in 3D for PS3, but such a feature could be added in the following year.

"This year we do not support 3D for the PS3. Next year we will be starting on that," game director Fabio Paglianti told CVG. "The main problem is that you need to double the number of FPS (frames per second)and then the machine can do all the work. But to have double the number of FPS is a challenge.
