Opel’s favorite tuner, Irmscher, introduced a study called Insignia Cross4 at last year’s Geneva Motor Show and it seems that Opel itself is now preparing to launch the Insignia CrossFour. The carmaker probably waited as it wanted to introduced the new version after the Insignia range received a facelift, a move that’s expected to take place this fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show - here are the latest Opel Insignia facelift spyshots.
The base for the vehicle is the Insignia Sport Tourer 4x4. However, the CrossFour comes with increased ground clearance and bigger wheels. In addition, the front and rear fascias get a more rugged design and so do the side skirts.
The Opel Insignia CrossFour is set to compete in a segment that has seen its popularity increase over the last few years. The vehicle will go up against models like the VW Passat Alltrack and Skoda Octavia Scout.
