Mercedes Benz has been working on a brand new addition to its SUV range, a small crossover built on the same MFA platform that underpins the A- and B-Class, plus a new coupe and the CLA sedan.
The crossover that will be known as the GLA has been spotted once before in the past, when it was caught testing in September. However, that was a mule, only an A-Class with a jacked up suspension.
These fresh spy photos are the very first taken of the GLA crossover with its real body on. As you can se, it has a more muscular front end, headlights inspired by the GLK, broader shoulders, roof rails and a different boot.
The rear overhang is slightly longer and the boot has sloped glass, following the trend for SUVs with coupe bodies.
The GLA will rival the BMW X1 and Audi Q3. It will be powered by the same engines as the A-Class, small displacements turbocharged four-cylinder units with up to about 200 hp.
