Japanese automaker Mazda appears to have struck gold with their first non-Ford vehicle, the CX-5 crossover. This is smaller than the CX-7, yet offers a bigger interior and is much more efficient thanks to the new SKYACTIV engine and transmission technologies.
As a result of increased demand, The Japanese factory that makes the crossover has had to increase production to 240,000 units a year. What’s more, supply of SKYACTIV engines has had to be doubled.
The next big revolution in Mazda technology will come in the form of the new Mazda6 midside vehicle. The sedan is scheduled to make its official debut at the Paris Motor Show in September, but the wagon you see here will be unveiled even sooner at the Moscow Show in August.
The exterior styling will be borrowed from the Takeri Concept shown late last year. This will offer a combination of natural swoops and curves, and we have to say that as wagons go, this is among the best out there.
Our spy photographers have once again been able to catch up to the Mazda6 Wagon as it was undergoing road testing. The car was spotted once before, the only difference being that now we get to look at the upcoming car’s interior.
The navigation system has been moved to the top of the dash, where the radio, clock and temperature information used to be shown. A lot more chrome has been used for the new interior, on the vents, the dials and steering wheel spokes.
As for what’s under the bonnet, Mazda is likely going to opt for a four-cylinder engine range, as it’s phasing out every V6 it can right now.
