Say what you will about BMW making “the ultimate driving machine”, but Mercedes clearly makes “the ultimate sitting in machine”. It might sound a little weird, but for the best-looking seats, dashboards and brushed aluminum, only the Stuttgart star will do.
This pre-production prototype for the CLS-Class mid-life facelift shows why it will be a good idea to buy a Mercedes four-door coupe. This is pretty much what we’re going to see coming off the assembly line. It’s a beautiful and subtle mix of piano black wood and black leather for the top of the dash, with creamy white leather covering the seats and door cards.
The exterior shots of the car reveal the same sort of intelligent LED headlights seen on the S-Class and the AMG-style body kit. This not only makes the CLS-Class look keener, but also somehow softens its design that used to be stuck in a totally different Mercedes design era.
The 2015 model year CLS-Class will probably make its debut in Geneva next month, followed by North American and Chinese market debut in April.
