We’ve been spying the fourth generation of the Range Rover Sport for quite a while and now that the model is getting closer to its released, the prototypes have lost some of the camouflage.
As you can see, the vehicle borrows a few styling cues from the Evoque compact crossover, but its proportions and size show that it can be very capable once you get off the road. The angular styling cues are here to stay, but the edges will be much more refined.
Unlike the current Range Rover Sport, which uses the Discovery’s platform, the new one will be underpinned by the architecture of the new Range Rover, which made its debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
Just like in the case of the new Range Rover, the new platform, which is derived from the aluminum structure of the Jaguar XJ, will bring a significant weight reduction.
The cabin of the new Range Rover Sport will move upmarket and will offer more modern features, as well as a wider range of trimming options, which, for example, will include carbon fiber. As for the engine range, this will be shared with the Range Rover big brother - you can check out the model in our data base here.
The 2014 Range Rover Sport is expected to make its public debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September.
