Our spies captured these very clear photos of the new Nissan hatch planned to go on sale in 2014. The car could be called the Amera or could revive the Tiida name, but that's not really the important factor here.
What is important is that this is a brand new C-segment hatchback which Nissan's bosses say will rival the Golf. For a long time now, the automaker has been relying exclusively on its crossovers to get good sales numbers in Europe, ignoring the most important segment of all. The Almera will fix that by offering lots of tech at a competitive price.
Some engines will be shared with partner Renault, like the 1.5-liter dCi, probably offering a choice of 90 or 110 PS, or the bigger and more expensive 1.6-liter DCi rated at 130 PS.
But Nissan has been reluctant to use Renault petrol engines in its cars. For that matter, it's unlikely this hatchback will have a twin-clutch automatic option, instead option for CVT. Just like with the new Qashqai, we expect a supercharged 1.2-liter with 100 hp will be the base engine.
The 'shield' systems seen on the new Note supermini will also be seen here. Technologies combined in this system include the Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Moving Object Detection.
