James Bond's 1976 Lotus Esprit for Sale

It's now or never for James Bond's fans! The white 1976 Lotus Esprit from the 1977 film The Spy Who Loved Me is to be sold on December 1st at its annual motoring Auction Sale at Olympia, in West London.

The future owner is expected to pay between £100,000 and £120,000 for the car. Certainly for 007 collectors it's worth the price...

For those who don't remember very well, the vehicle up for auction is one of the two Lotus cars driven by Roger Moore (who played the James Bond character). The famous screen car was driven both on land and underwater. In fact, its fame is due to the moment when Bond being pursued by a helicopter, touches a button and it suddenly changes into an amazing submarine. And it wasn't bad at all for those times!

However, because a pleasant surprise never comes alone, during the same Auction Sale, one can purchase the registration number ‘AU1’, used in Goldfinger, another James Bond film. The number plate was first registered in 1903, in Nottingham and was used for arch villain Goldfinger's Rolls-Royce Phantom III in the legendary film with the same name.

The association with the name is quite simple as AU is the chemical symbol for gold in the Periodic Table. Anyone with gold tastes will surely appreciate its value! So, if you want to become the happy owner of such an important plate you must be prepared to pay around £80,000.

Nostalgic fans certainly remember the beautiful Barbara Bach (who played Major Anya Amasova) with her funny fake Russian accent. Unfortunately for the fans, she is not for sale at Olympia this time...
