Missouri-based Precision Restorations have given another meaning to what a partial restoration job means. In an attempt to find the best possible way to promote themselves, the team has decided to build a marketing car that best illustrates their skills and professionalism.

In a move that we could dare to call ingenious, Precision Restorations have taken a 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado screaming for a makeover, and have given an out-of-the-box look to exactly half of it, both inside and outside. Lift up the hood and you’ll find the same approach.

As you can see in the image gallery below this article, the car is either great or terrible, depending on which side you stand. And by terrible we mean a yellowed exterior paint, a rust-specked bodywork and torn leather on the inside. The engine also bears the signs of aging, offering a view that almost tears your heart in two.

But before you go on and feast your eyes, taking a look at the other side that sticks your heart back together, let us remind what the Toronado was all about in its glory days. This two-door coupe was produced by the Oldsmobile division of General Motors between 1966 and 1992.

Toronado, a front-wheel-drive automobile, used a rather unusual powertrain dubbed the Unitized Power Package (UPP), designed to combine an engine and transmission into an engine bay no larger than a conventional rear-wheel-drive car. Engine wise, it used a 7.0-liter Super Rocket V8 providing 385 horsepower and 644 Nm (475 lb.ft.) of torque.

The 1967 model, like the one that has been subject to the aforementioned restoration, came with a mild facelift, which included the addition of optional disc brakes, and a slightly softer ride.
