Problems for South Korean SUV manufacturer SsangYong seem to be well behind it and, since the siege police subjected the company's employees in 2009, the scars appear to have healed.

The better, more confident SsangYong is to be seen these days at the Geneva Auto Show, where the Koreans have brought their latest creation, the SUT 1. Unlike what SsangYong has gotten us used to by now, the new concept is not an SUV per se, but more of a pickup.

Measuring 4.99 meters in length, 1.91 meters in width and 1.76 meters in height, the concept has been created to accommodate four passengers in the cabin and some heavy luggage in the back (no figures regarding the carrying capabilities of the model have been announced yet).

The concept is powered by a 2.0l diesel engine, capable of generating up to 155 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque. The unit will spin either all the four wheels or only the front ones, with either a manual or an automatic transmission to control the power output.

The SUT 1 is said to be a preview of the replacement vehicle for the Actyon Sports. According to the information available, the SUT 1 will enter production sometime next year, when the model to be replaced is expected to be phased out.

More details about the production version of the vehicle will probably be offered throughout the year. Hopefully, SsangYong's new found love for doing what it does best, building cars, will transform into other exciting vehicles as well in the near future.
