The BMW M5 has proved that it is not only capable of hitting speeds of 300 km/h (186 mph), but also manages to protect its occupants in case something goes wrong during such a blitz journey.
Am F10 M5 was being driven at or close to this speed on a “no speed limit” portion of the A81 German Autobahn on Tuesday, when the driver noticed that another car was entering the highway in front of him, swerved to avoid it and hit the dividing guard rail, which sent the car in to the other guard rail. The M5 thumbed over multiple times on the grass next to the road before coming to a halt.
The 60-year old driver, together with a 20-year old passenger, all survived the crash, even though they were severely injured. The two sons of the driver, one driving an M6 and the other one an M3, who were following him, quickly arrived at the scene of the crash and used a fire extinguisher on the engine compartment as smoke was coming out of this. The vehicle that cut off the M5 has reportedly fled the scene of the crash.
