2015 Mercedes-Benz MLC Spotted in Production Trim

Announced back in 2011, the Mercedes-Benz MLC was recently previewed by the Concept Coupe SUV at the 2015 Beijing Auto Show, but this is the first time that a pre-production prototype of the model has been spotted on the road.

There have been a couple of prototypes wearing an M-Class body caught on camera before, but the following spy photos show a model wearing production trim under all that camouflage for the very first time.

Starting with the obvious, it seems that our hunch about the production model to be look least 90 percent identical to the concept was very much true, with only a couple of stylistic details to differ between the 2015 MLC and the Concept Coupe SUV.

Unfortunately, one of the main differences in our view is the fact that the doors appear to no longer sport the frameless windows that the concept car exhibited, which is a pretty sad way for the engineers get ahead of the designers.

We have no idea why this change happened, especially since the frameless door windows would have given the MLC a character that none of its competitors – especially the BMW X6 – currently has, while also making it look more like the SUV version of the gorgeous Mercedes-Benz CLS.

Other than that, you can also spot a couple of differences when comes to the wheels, the front bumper and the rearview mirrors, but overall the MLC should pretty much look like a more down to Earth Concept Coupe SUV.

It is expected that the model will feature most of the engines from its M-Class brother, including a top of the range variant in the form of the MLC 63 AMG, which should give nightmares to the BMW X6 M.

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz MLC will most likely be unveiled at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, with production to commence at the beginning of next year as well.
