Huge in terms of both performance and visual impact, the VMAX needs no introduction: this bike represents the icon of forward thinking and a most intriguing fusion of brawn and brains. And even more, the 2014 model is already in showrooms!
This power cruiser makes generous display of evil engineering: a V4 power plant with 1679cc (102cui) of pure, unadulterated asphalt terror mated to a 5-speed transmission with a multi-plate slipper clutch and surgically-precise shaft final drive can take on the most brutal sport cars out there.

The 52mm forks and rear shock are fully adjustable for preload, compression and rebound, so this monster can be set up to perfection. Dual Brembo 6-piston calipers squeeze the 3200 front wave rotors, while a single-piston unit provides rear braking, with the 298mm disc.

It was only normal to see the 2014 VMAX loaded with WSBK technology, so it comes with the Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake (YCC-I)and Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T), providing real-time fuel adjustment for the best power deployment, while the standard fly-by-wire throttle is the epitome of acceleration precision.

Star claims 27 mpg (8.7 l/100 km) from the 683 lbs (309 kg) bike and this adds two more nuances to owning a VMAX: this machine was not built for the faint of heart and neither did Yamaha think about too much economy when designing such a muscle bike. The 2014 VMAX is all about mind-boggling performance, just like its predecessors.

And by all means, the 2104 VMAX will deliver quite a bang for each dime of the $17,990 (€14,035) price tag it comes with.
