From 22 to 24 august 2013, more than 180 vintage cars will cover about 600 kilometers (373 miles) through Vogtland and the Erz mountains, in Saxony - a place that is pretty closely associated with the birthplace of the modern car.

A gorgeous Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster (W198) and an “old-school executive” represented by a 300 SEL 6.3 (W109) will be brought by the Mercedes-Benz Classic division to be driven by two tri-star brand ambassadors.

The 300 SL Roadster will have Andreas Renschler at the wheel during the three-day event. The man is a member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and responsible for production purchasing at Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans.

With 250 horsepower and a massive for its time torque figure of 500 Nm (368.8 ft lb), the 45-year old 300 SEL luxury sedan will be driven by Joachim Ersing, director of the Mercedes-Benz branch in Dresden.

Both vehicles come from Mercedes-Benz's private stash of classic vehicles, with each of them representing important parts of automotive history.
