The second generation of the C-Class-based Mercedes-Benz GLK is getting closer and closer to its launch date, which is set to happen most likely about a year and a half from now, either at the 2015 North American International Auto Show or the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
Just like the highly-successful current model, which received a facelift last year, the next generation of the GLK will be also based on the C-Class platform, only this time it will be the one used by the W205 generation.
The model's size will slightly increase to offer a better interior volume, while the exterior design will have a much rounder nature, unlike the boxy design of the current generation.
The front is to follow a similar design line with the W222 S-Class and the upcoming C-Class, with the sides of the engine grille being hugged by the headlights. The rear will preserve some of the macho looks of the current model, but the overall lines will be quite a bit softer.
Engine-wise, the GLK (X205) will share most of them with the W205 C-Class, as expected, with a range of four and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines that will all be turbocharged, along with at least two hybrid engine options.
