If you have ever wondered why some car manufacturers won't let members of the public get in their cars at auto shows, the following photos should provide you with a pretty good hint.
“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.” is a rather wise quote by the late George Carlin, and pretty much exemplifies what happened sometime before the following photos were taken.

Celebrating the model's world premiere at the North American International Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz brought a couple of pre-production C-Class W205 models and let every journalist present have a hands-on approach with every single one during the first press day.

Apparently, that was a bit of a mistake, as a C 220 BlueTec no longer has a perfectly-working air conditioning interior vent thanks to an over zealous journalist who broke its center fin.

The even worse part is that the car will have to be seen and touched by thousands of other people, who will probably think that the new C-Class is built like a Yugo because of this nuisance.
