Edmund's Creates Fake Mercedes-Benz Story, Internet Covers it
Now it's time for another similar article, also based on brain flatulence, only this time it's about the upcoming W205 Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Citing an unnamed “insider”, Edmund's says that the fourth generation of the C-Class will also sport a five-door hatchback in the style of the BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo (forgetting to mention the Audi A5 Sportback, for some reason). Well, guess what, the 3-Series Grand Turismo is far from being a best seller in the BMW range, so Mercedes-Benz has no reason to copy its “successful” body style, as they will with the X6. Plus, there hasn't been any information so far - such as spyshots or videos – with the five-door C-Class that is supposed to be launched at the same time as the sedan version.
On top of that, they also claim to know that there won't be a C-Class Cabriolet model. Well, then what would these spyshots depict then, if not the convertible version of the future C-Class Coupe?
The misinformation goes even deeper when they claim that the upcoming W205 C-Class will borrow the Magic Body Control system from the W222 S-Class. Are they kidding? The stereo camera system in connection with Road Surface Scan is only available with the class-leading Active Body Control, a system so expensive that it will probably never find its way into something smaller than an E-Class, a model which doesn't yet have it.
We think they should probably leave the “fake story creation” thing to the Brits from Autocar and Auto Express, who are much more experienced at inventing “insiders” and information.
