E 63 AMG S-Model vs M5 Competition Package by MotorTrend [Video]
Despite this, the AMG S-Model and the M5 Competition is the best E-Class by AMG and the M5 Competition is the best 5-Series by Motorsport Technik, so it's only natural that there will be a lot of comparison tests between the two.
Just by looking at the official specs, the E 63 AMG S-Model should win the numbers comparison hand down.
Its 5.5-liter M157 engine pumps out no less than 585 hp (577 bhp) and 800 Nm (590 lb ft) of torque, while the 4.4-liter S63 mill from the M5 Competition develops 575 hp (567 bhp) and 680 Nm (502 lb ft) of torque.
Official performance numbers aren't any better for the BMW either, with the E 63 AMG S-Model hitting 100km/h (62 mph) in a neck-breaking 3.6 seconds, while the M5 Competition needs 4.2 seconds.
Not trusting the manufacturer numbers, Motor Trend took the two bonkers sedans and put them in a head-to-head comparison test, and the results aren't exactly pretty. According to the dyno tests that Motor Trend conducted at K&N North America, both Mercedes-Benz and BMW are unabashedly lying about the two models' performance numbers. By how much, you ask?
