Rolling off the production line in July 2011, the third generation of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class is nearing its mid-cycle refresh with steady steps.
Our spy photographers managed to catch a pre-production prototype testing near the Arctic Circle with heavy camouflage on recently, signaling that it will receive a rather extensive facelift soon, with the second half of 2014 being the time when it will finally arrive in showrooms.

Just like the E-Class W212 facelift, the Mercedes-Benz ML will sport a completely new front fascia compared to the current model, bringing it in line with the recently-introduced Mercedes-benz design language.

As it can be seen in the adjacent photos, the refreshed M-Class will also introduce new full LED headlights with an exterior shape similar to that of the models based on the MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform, while the interior will also get the tablet-like Comand screen – which may or may not appeal to all potential customers.

Engine-wise, we are expecting a version derived from the S 500 Plug-in Hybrid to make its way under the newly-designed hood, while the hyper-efficient 9G-Tronic will also be fitted to selected engines, starting with the ML 350 BlueTec.
