Word on the street is that the second generation of the GLK, featured in the adjacent photos during pre-production testing by our spy photographers, will also be manufactured alongside two of its brothers – the current M-Class and the W205 generation of the C-Class – at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The first and currently only generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLK is being manufactured exclusively in Bremen, Germany, although two other CKD assembly lines are in Egypt and China for the respective local markets.

The M-Class is a GLK family member just for also being a Mercedes-Benz SUV, but the C-Class will also share its platform with the GLK, like the current generations do, which can make their side-by-side production make a lot more sense from a logistics point of view.

The X205 generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLK is set to be launched in about a year, with the public unveil expected either at the 2014 Paris Motor Show or the 2014 LA Auto Show – which would put it closer to the GLA arrival in the land of the free next autumn. We'll keep you posted for more info about the subject in the following weeks.
