ALFA ROMEO 75 (1985 - 1992)
ALFA ROMEO 75 (1985 - 1992) Description & History

Alfa Romeo decided to replace the Giulietta model in 1985 and introduced the new Alfa 75 (or 'Milano' on the North-American market). The new model's name was a celebration of Alfa Romeo's 75th anniversary, while many of its components were borrowed from its Giulietta predecessor. It featured square headlights and matching grille and was available with a choice of 4 engines - 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 liter petrol and 2.0 turbodiesel by VM Motori. A year later, another turbodiesel unit was available for this model, the 1.8L Garrett T3 turbo. In 1987, Alfa Romeo presented two new versions of the 75 model, the Turbo Wagon and the Sportwagon, during the Geneva Motor Show. The American version of the Alfa 75 featured redesigned bumpers and bodies to accommodate thicker and heavier shock absorbers. By 1992, when the 75 model was discontinued, Alfa had sold no less than 187,300 units.
