Mercedes Benz introduced a facelifted version of the SLK R171 in 2008. The roadster features slight visual changes in order to achieve a more pronounced arrow shape. The front an rear sections of the SLK were retouched by receiving a new front apron, darkened headlamps, restyled front side air intakes and rear diffuser-style lower section. Significant changes have also been undertaken to the interior, that features a more driver-oriented layout and uprated materials. Engine-wise, the SLK brings a new sport-derived V6 engine and improved fuel consumption and CO2 emissions throughout the range. The 3.5L V6 petrol unit underwent several technical modifications in order to make it more sporty and fuel efficient. The changes done to the valve train system, a new intake manifold and higher compression ratio allow the V6 unit to produce 305 hp while improving fuel consumption by 1.1 liters per 100 km.
