BMW 5 Series (E39) 2000 - 2003
Starting 2000 in Europe and 2001 in the United States, BMW slightly revised its 5 Series sedan model in terms of exterior styling and engine management. First, the improved 5 Series featured redeveloped headlights, a new bumper and several other new interior components (mostly regarding car's electronics). Secondly, the 528i engine was replaced by the new 530i unit (225 hp), while the 5 Series saloon was now available with an entry-level 184-hp 525i trim. During the next 3 years of production, the revised 5 Series underwent several updates, most of it focusing on new technical and electronic equipment. It was replaced by the fifth generation model - based on the all-new E60 platform - in 2003.
