As the big launch is getting closer by the minute, MINI decided to reveal some information regarding the new cars it will be releasing next year, more importantly, about the new Cooper.

Unfortunately for the British, we already caught the undisguised Cooper a while back, while posing for a photo shoot. Back then we noticed the elongated bonnet and started wondering why the design team ever agreed to such a new look.

The recent press release the Oxford-based company released claims that it had pedestrian safety in mind when the car took this shape. Actually, the front of the car will have extra crumple elements alongside a shock absorber between the bumper bracket and the cladding that will reduce the risk of injury in case of an accident.

Furthermore, passenger safety was also increased. In case of a collision, the crumple zones at the front will help protect the passenger cell while the restraint systems (like the seat belts) will offer optimum protection, no matter the type of crash.

The best news though, is that these safety features will be standard on all new MINI models. Now, we can't wait for the November release to finally take a closer look at the Mk3 model.
