If for some sedans or convertible models, testing in heavy snow doesn’t make too much sense, for an SUV-like model, it’s only natural. The upcoming BMW F16 X6 was just caught testing in Sweden by our spy photographers.
At the moment, BMW is still selling the E71 X6 version that received a slight facelift last year, despite the fact that the new F15 X5 was already launched and the Sport Activity Coupe will be sharing its platform.
The new spyshots confirm that BMW is really working on making the xDrive system even more capable on all sort of terrain. Up until now, the AWD transmission created by the Bavarians proved its worth on asphalt but wasn’t too widely praised on more difficult surfaces. Maybe things are going to change with the new models.
The design of the new car will be closely similar to the one on the new X5, with major changes happening around the back, where the sloping roofline will drop significantly to give it that ‘Coupe’ look.
As for the engines, the new X6 will probably go for the same line-up as the X5, with both an hybrid and M version on the way. Expect the new model to arrive in dealerships in late 2015.
