Big news came to us today, as the brand new PS3 racing simulator Gran Turismo 6 was launched. In exactly 7 days we’ll know how the new BMW M4 Coupe will look like, according to our insider at BMW. That’s because, to launch the first ever M4, the guys from Munich thought they should do something special and will introduce the new car through the video game.

This will mark a first in the almost 100-year history of the German brand too, emphasizing the growing importance of the video game industry in our lives and taking the Gran Turismo franchise to new heights at the same time.

The car will actually be revealed through a free DLC that will arrive on Sony’s consoles worldwide on December 12, revealing all the official specs and the design of the new high-performance coupe. Right now we know that the M3 and M4 will share a new 3-liter turbocharged engine that makes around 430 HP and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque and that they will be weighing under 1,500 kg (3,300 lbs) thanks to extensive usage of CFRP, the ultra-light and ultra-strong new material BMW developed for the i3.

As for the M3, no official date has been announced, but since the two cars will be sharing the underpinnings and all the technical specs, the only difference between the two will be the 2 extra doors in the back. Keep in touch as we’ll upload a video of the new car in the game as soon as the DLC arrives!
