Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo Makes World Debut at 2013 Frankfurt

Just as promised, Alpina, unveiled their D3 Bi-Turbo model at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. The new cars (as the D3 comes in both Sedan and Touring shape) are bound to write a new chapter in the manufacturer's history.

They are the most powerful diesel units built by the company with the best efficiency. Actually, they share the engine with the XD3 model, Alpina's first SUV. The 3-liter turbocharged diesel makes 350 HP and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque.

With such massive power and torque, the Sedan reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds and has a top speed of 278 km/h (174 mph). The Touring model does the 62 mph sprint in the same time for the RWD version but it's actually faster by 0.1 seconds with AWD.

The cherry on top is that the D3 Bi-Turbo is EU6 compliant and takes only 5.4 l of diesel to cover 100 km (43.5 mpg).
