The Oxford automaker has already announced two new engines for the next generation hatchback, a 1.5-liter and a 2.0-liter, both TwinPower Turbo units belonging to a new modular family.
But the first time we ever heard about this new 3-cylinder turbo engine was in the BMW Active Tourer Concept, a preview vehicle for the 1 Series GT. That concept had a hybrid drivetrain with electricity powering the rear wheels.

MINI has has three different power outputs for four-cylinder diesel engines in Europe, but has never brought such a car to the US. The company is now pondering a move into the diesel US market.
