How to Pair an Android Phone via Bluetooth to Your BMW [Video]
In the past we showed you a couple of interesting apps and how to build yourself an iPhone cradle when an official part wasn't available. Now we're looking into the competition, the Android smartphones.
So, we'll be showing you how to pair your Android smartphone to BMW's iDrive. The first thing you do is navigate to the settings page of your iDrive menu, then select Connections.
In the Connections tab, select Bluetooth and then click on 'Add new device'. Now, you have to make sure your phone's Bluetooth connection is on and discoverable. Once you made sure that's the case, select 'Search for new devices' from your phone's menu.
On your iDrive screen you should see the BMW id for your car. In the video below, for example, it's 32519. That's how you know what car or device to pick. Once you find your vehicle's id you'll see a passkey. Make sure it corresponds to the one displayed on your car's screen and then click ok.
That's it. Now your phone is connected to your car's iDrive system. For a more explicit guide, check the video below.
