BMWs Join Red Bull in Lebanon Drift Racing Event [Video]
It seems like they are now organizing a drift championship in the Middle East, in a daring attempt to bring all the stunts we've seen on the internet, featuring average people driving all sorts of stupid FWD cars in stupid ways, under control, in a supervised environment.
They are currently organizing contests in countries around the Middle East, offering enthusiasts the chance to qualify for the big event that will take place in Dubai. Last week, Lebanon was the home of such a competition.
As usual, BMWs did us proud, next to some heavily modified Subaru Imprezas, Nissan 350zs and other cars. In the end, the two winners that got to qualify were the drivers of a Nissan 350z and a BMW E36 Coupe.
However, winning was just the tip of the iceberg. The whole event was beautiful and the way the drivers was scored made it this way. You see, thanks to Red Bull, the scoring went like this: 10 percent of the score comes from the crowd reaction, 10 percent from the car's looks, 10 percent is due to the car's sound and smoke and 40% drifting skills.
