The 2014 MotoGP safety car will be the brand new BMW M4, replacing last year’s BMW M6 Gran Coupe that looked absolutely unbelievable. The M4 is not bad either, showing us the meaning of the word ‘haste’, especially on MotoGP tracks.
At the moment no additional info is available as the car was introduced via a Facebook post on BMW M’s page saying just “The all-new BMW M4 Coupé MotoGP Safety Car. Only 16 days left till its first mission during the MotoGP season start at Qatar." However, we can make assumptions based on last year.
The car that wore the same decals and beacon last year, the M6 Gran Coupe, was basically stock, with the same 4.4-liter V8 engine under the bonnet, making 560 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque. That means that, most likely, the M4 will do the same, coming to greet motorcycling fans with its own stock 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engine making 431 HP and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque.
M Performance Parts will also be advertised on the new car alongside tire manufacturer Bridgestone, sport seats expert Recaro and Oakley eyewear. Looking forward to seeing the new safety car at work?
