BMW Might Start Selling Cars over the Internet
Even though initial talks were referring only to the new i3 being sold over the Internet, Krueger said that all cars could very well join in the effort. Another interesting approach would require instating a 'Mobile Sales Force' that would be able to visit clients at home and get them inside a BMW.
“The expectations and needs of our clients are changing and we want to meet those requirements,” Krueger said in an interview for Business Week.
However, this might mean serious trouble for BMW dealerships that have been going through some rough times lately, especially in Europe. Werner Entenmann, President of BMW Dealers Association said for Business Week that this is an idea that must be immediately rejected.
In order to cool the waters, Kruger added that trading remained the backbone of BMW's sales and nothing will change that too soon. In order to protect local dealerships, in case the program will take off, BMW announced that it will keep it away from Germany, at least at the beginning.
