BMW M Performance Kit Brings More Power than Advertised [Video]
After a couple of dyno runs, the results were surprising. According to Steve, the BMW M Performance Kit will improve a 335i's power output by up to 36 HP and the torque levels by 77 lb-ft (104 Nm). Those numbers were obtained with a presumed power loss of 15%.
However, some might argue that the power loss percentage might be different. With a drivetrain loss of 12% for horsepower and 8% for torque, the performance gains add up to 27 extra HP and 55 extra lb-ft (75 Nm) of torque. Still above what BMW is claiming.
According to BMW officials, the M Performance Program for N55 engines (fitted on 335i Sedans after 2012) increases the power from 300 HP to 320 HP and torque from 300 lb-ft (300 Nm) to 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) for cars with automatic gearboxes and 317 lb-ft (430 Nm) for the ones with manual transmission.
