BMW i3 Hot Lap: Behind the Scenes

Chris Neff and Erin Crocker Inside a BMW i3 1 photo

A while back we introduced you to the first ever BMW i3 hot lap, taken on the Monticello Raceway in New York. It was a pretty interesting video, some people calling it phony or other things, unworthy of a true BMW.
That because some people still don’t look at the i3 as to a true Bimmer. It’s still that half-retarded, drooling cousin from the south, you don’t dare to start a conversation with because you’re afraid it might turn out better than you expected. But the i3 is brilliant and it can get your heart rate up, a lot, on the track too.

The driver behind the wheel of the car during the shoot was Erin Crocker, a professional racer that took on almost anything in her life, from NASCAR to stunt cars. The man telling the story of the shooting is Chris Neff, of Inside EVs, a true EV passionate that had the privilege to be invited by BMW at this event.

Needless to say he ended up being impressed. Not only by the way Erin drove but also by the way the car performed on track, even though it wasn’t built to do hot laps. His article is worth the time, if you’re interested in the i3.
