Back in the 1970s, Alpina and BMW were just starting their collaboration that would end up spanning over more than 40 years, eventually, the German tuner becoming a standalone manufacture, its own VIN numbers included.
Also back in those days the two companies joined forces to create a special edition 3.0CSL (also known as Batmobile) car, wearing the traditional Alpina green color. One such modified car was recently spotted on a race track, scaring the life out of bystanders.

No, it’s not the scary looks of the car that were responsible for all the raised pulses in the audience but rather the noise it made. The 3.2-liter, 6-cylinder engine under the bonnet was specially tuned to make no less than 480 HP, in a daring attempt to transform this beauty into a Group 2 Race Car.

After adding a roll-cage, bucket seats and a lot of other racing bits and pieces, the end result clocked a top speed of 291 km/h (181 mph), a lot more than what the original was capable of with just around 200 HP.

The fact that even today, the car we’re looking at uses an original 3.2-liter that was taken to outrageous levels of power, speaks of the reliability of BMW’s products. Check out the little granny on the track!
